The Main Trio
Yashodhara Devi Rathore · Rahim Qureshi · Abdul
The entire story of Rathore Haveli revolves around these three central characters, while the remaining cast deepens the mystery, relationships, and conflicts.
About Rathore Haveli
Rathore Haveli is a magnificent Rajput mansion built approximately one hundred and fifty years ago from red sandstone. It stands atop a hill overlooking the village of Ramgarh. Surrounded by towering walls, four watchtowers, and a massive iron gate, the estate resembles a small fortress from a distance.
Having expanded over generations, the haveli is now clearly divided into two distinct sections: the new residential wing and the old secret wing.
The new wing serves as the residence of Thakurain Yashodhara Devi. It includes a spacious central courtyard, reception hall, office, prayer room, kitchen, dining hall, guest rooms, and Yashodhara's private bedroom. Champa, Radha, and Shabbo also have their quarters in this section. Clean, organized, and lively, it is the heart of the estate's daily operations where the household staff spend most of their time.
In contrast, the old western wing has remained almost completely abandoned for years. Long dark corridors, dust-covered rooms, broken windows, faded portraits, locked doors, and damp walls create an unsettling atmosphere. The servants avoid entering this area alone because it is believed that Thakur Virendra Singh died there under mysterious circumstances.
Hidden behind a massive bookshelf in the old records room lies a concealed entrance built into the wall. It opens into a narrow stone tunnel leading to the underground section of the haveli. This secret complex consists of hidden chambers, underground vaults, and interconnected passageways whose existence is unknown to almost everyone.
The western wing forms the true heart of the story, where forgotten secrets, hidden legacies, and unanswered mysteries lie buried beneath the weight of time.
Within the haveli grounds there is also a cowshed where livestock are kept, along with two storage rooms used for fodder and as living quarters for Raju.
Main Plot (Chapters 1–10)
Chapter 1: The New Stranger
A mysterious young man named Rahim Qureshi arrives in the village of Ramgarh and sets up a tent beside the river. Through his calm nature and selfless willingness to help others, he quickly earns the trust of the villagers. People begin discussing him at the village square, although the village headman, Hariram, remains suspicious of his intentions.
Meanwhile, Rahim's attention never strays far from Rathore Haveli. His growing curiosity about the estate suggests that he has not come to settle in the village, but to find a way inside the haveli itself.
Chapter 2: The Thakurain and the Haveli
This chapter introduces Rathore Haveli and its mistress, Yashodhara Devi Rathore, who has managed the estate alone since her husband's death.
The story also introduces Champa, Radha, and Shabbo. Shabbo mentions the newly arrived young man, Rahim, and suggests that he would be well suited to work at the haveli.
The chapter offers readers their first glimpse of the disciplined atmosphere of the estate and Yashodhara's dignified yet commanding personality.
Chapter 3: The Night of the Storm
A violent storm sweeps across Ramgarh. Fierce winds and heavy rain completely destroy Rahim's tent beside the river, leaving him with only enough time to save his iron trunk.
Watching from a window of the haveli, Yashodhara sees him struggling against the storm and, for the first time, feels genuine compassion for the unknown young man.
Neither of them realizes that this single storm will become the turning point that changes both of their lives.
Chapter 4: The Doors of the Haveli
The villagers request Yashodhara to help Rahim. Hariram explains that the young man does not seek charity, only honest work. Accepting the request, Yashodhara hires him to maintain and clean the abandoned western wing of Rathore Haveli.
For the first time, Rahim steps inside the estate that has been the focus of his attention. Champa warns him about the haveli's strict rules, Radha warmly introduces herself, and Shabbo quietly studies him, sensing that there is more to him than meets the eye.
Rahim is assigned a room near the western wing, bringing him one step closer to the goal that brought him to Ramgarh.
Chapter 5: The First Meeting
While carrying out his duties, Rahim has his first formal meeting with Yashodhara. Their conversation is polite, respectful, and reserved.
Later that day, while working in the western wing, Rahim notices a massive door secured with a heavy iron lock. Curious, he asks Champa about it.
She tells him that Thakur Virendra Singh died in that very section of the haveli under mysterious circumstances. Since then, the area has remained permanently sealed.
This revelation strengthens Rahim's growing suspicion that the greatest secret of Rathore Haveli is hidden somewhere beyond that locked door.
Chapter 6: The Secret Behind the Wall
While cleaning the old records room, Rahim moves a large dust-covered bookshelf that has remained untouched for years.
Behind it, he discovers strange markings carved into the wall. Upon closer inspection, he realizes that the wall does not sound or feel like solid masonry.
After several careful attempts, he finally locates a concealed pressure mechanism hidden within the stone.
The moment he presses it, the wall slowly slides aside, revealing a narrow secret passage.
Standing before the hidden entrance, Rahim realizes that his investigation has finally taken him onto the right path.
Chapter 7: The Western Tunnel
Rahim begins planning his exploration of the hidden passage. Before making his move, he carefully studies the daily routines of the haveli's staff and patiently waits for the perfect opportunity.
During this time, the trust between him and Yashodhara, Radha, and Shabbo gradually grows stronger.
To everyone around him, Rahim appears to be nothing more than an honest and hardworking servant.
But beneath that quiet exterior, he is preparing to uncover the long-buried secrets hidden within the depths of Rathore Haveli's mysterious past.
Chapter 8: Rain and the Accident
One day, Champa and Radha were away from the haveli. Rahim was in his room, while Thakurain Yashodhara remained in her private chamber.
Heavy rain poured relentlessly, flooding the surroundings. Seeing the perfect opportunity, Rahim returned to the old records room, pressed the hidden mechanism in the wall, and entered the secret passage.
At that very moment, a powerful bolt of lightning struck the western wing of the haveli.
Fearing that the strike might have caused an accident, Yashodhara hurried toward the abandoned western section. She was dressed in a sari as she made her way through the rain.
Upon reaching the area, she noticed that a damaged door was repeatedly slamming because of the strong wind. To stop the noise, she wedged a brick against it.
By then, however, the torrential rain had completely soaked her.
As she turned to walk back, her foot slipped on the wet floor, causing her to fall heavily. Injured and unable to get up, she lay on the ground in pain.
Hearing the disturbance nearby, Rahim immediately came out of the hidden passage. He was startled to find Yashodhara lying on the floor, drenched by the rain and struggling to move.
Chapter 9: A Night of Trust
Without hesitation, Rahim rushed to Yashodhara's side and carefully helped her to her feet. Supporting her with great care, he brought her into his room. In the process, he too was completely soaked.
Yashodhara's clothes had been torn and stained by the fall.
Rahim seated her on his bed and offered her clean water so that she could wash herself.
The rain outside had become so intense that returning to her own room would have meant getting drenched all over again.
Since her clothes were no longer fit to wear, Rahim gave her one of his shirts along with a long towel so she could comfortably cover herself.
After changing into the borrowed clothes, she finally felt warm and at ease.
Rahim also changed out of his wet clothes. Having no spare garments except a change of underwear, he put on only that before returning to the room.
When Yashodhara suggested that she should return to her own quarters, Rahim gently stopped her.
"The rain is still pouring," he said. "Please stay here for tonight. No one else is in the haveli, and you shouldn't spend the night alone."
He prepared a comfortable place for her to rest.
As the storm raged outside, the two shared a long and heartfelt conversation. For the first time, their interaction was no longer defined by formality, but by genuine trust.
Yashodhara began to realize that Rahim was far more than an ordinary servant.
Rahim, in turn, discovered that the mistress of Rathore Haveli was not as cold or unapproachable as people believed.
That night quietly laid the foundation of mutual trust between them.
Chapter 10: A New Beginning
The following morning, Shabbo is unable to find Yashodhara in her private chamber. Alarmed, she begins searching every corner of the haveli.
Eventually, she reaches Rahim's room.
There, she finds Yashodhara and Rahim asleep, resting peacefully in each other's embrace.
The discovery quickly becomes the subject of whispers and speculation throughout the haveli.
