Priya and Harsh were a usual couple who got married about a year ago. Soon after marriage, they realized they were different in their thought process. Priya was well rooted to her culture while Harsh was a nonconformist. He worked for a leading newspaper as a columnist and had gained popularity through his hard-hitting articles against the education system, political rivalries, social stigmas etc.
Though Priya loved him, she hated his attitude towards culture, age-old beliefs and traditions. He would never celebrate any festivals and treated them as normal days. Though Priya tried talking to him, her arguments fell on deaf ears. One afternoon, while he was busy thinking about the context for his next article, he got a text from Priya to come home on time as she was fasting on account of Karwa-chauth. He literally jumped in his chair and unlocked his laptop to write an article against this tradition. The wokes, leftists and atheists lapped it up and soon it was trending on social media. Harsh didn’t have the slightest of clue about the raging storm that this article was going to create. He was invited by popular news channels to share his views on the article. This added more fuel to the fire that was slowly raging up on social media. Few columnists blasted him through their writings, but things got awry when a religious scholar was interviewed.
I'd like to keep the plot open for discussion, but yes, I do have something in mind in terms of how it shapes up further. This is going to be a slow burner and will include tensions brewing between the couple.
My expectations from the partner
- Be expressive as this is going to be an emotionally charged play.
