NPP, a fairly new regional political party was about to finish their first term in the state. NPP was a party formed by a honest politician Thakur Dashrath Pratap Singh. He had broken ties from an age old party (LKP) that had been winning in the state since 1980s to form his own regional party. Dashrath or Veerji (as he was fondly called), was a man of emotions and brutally honest. He was popular amongst the masses and had won the assembly elections with 2/3rd majority. Things were fine for 4 years, but then the opposition got a sniff of some ministers being corrupt. The men in Veerji's close proximity were now beginning to get lured towards the political power that they had tasted for the first time. Dashrath had chosen his council of ministers after a long thought. He wanted honest and dedicated ministers to hold important portfolios. However, things began to slip behind his back as these honest men turned corrupt. This group of men were now headed by Mr. Ashutosh Singh, the most veteran minister in his party, who was heading the Revenue department. Dashrath too had a sniff of things and knew his men had faltered. Being the kind of man he was, he was ready to give up the chair and wanted to expose the corrupt ministers. Before he could do that, the dreaded news of Dashrath's untimely death sent ripples in the political circuit. Though the death looked natural, people who were still loyal to him believed it was a cold blooded murder, which was made to look like a natural death.
There were 6 months remaining for the elections and the men standing with Ashutosh were the happiest lot. They believed, they would get Ashutosh's backing to continue their scams. Ashutosh himself had now begun to dream of taking up Dashrath's legacy, but he knew it was not that easy. The men who supported Dashrath's ideology were more in number than the corrupt men who were backing him.
A party meeting was called to select the next on command until the next election dates were announced. Ashutosh tried his level best, but Dashrath's supporters outnumbered him. They wanted Vimladevi, Dashrath's widow to be the next in command. So Vimladevi was to be sworn in for the remaining 6 months. She had no clue about politics and had won her seat because of her husband's name.
Ashutosh was obviously not going to give up so soon. He knew it was time to unveil his trump card. Dashrath and Ashutosh were close friends and Dashrath had shared a personal secret which wasn't even known to his wife Vimladevi. Dashrath had a son from a passing affair when he wasn't married. When the party meeting came to an end, in walked a 25 year old boy.
I have kept the idea open. Although I have a brief idea on how this plot unfolds, I would love to hear your comments too.
If you are interested in playing, please understand that there will be multiple gaps in the play. I get limited time as I am busy with real life stuff.
