Shalini has been married for couple of years. Her husband Akash has been handling the family business since the time her dad decided to hang his boots. Akash was a trusted employee in Shalini's late father's company. Shalini's father considered him as a gem of a person and soon got him married to his daughter. Not only that, in his final will, he handed over the reigns of the company to his son in law (Akash). But the condition was, he would only be limited to be a caretaker, which meant Akash had to take Shalini's signatures for getting new business deals etc.
Shalini was happy that she married such a wonderful guy who was caring, but things started to go against her in the last year or so. She lost her dad in a car accident. As per her dad's will, Shalini became the rightful owner of the company and other assets that her dad owned. Shalini was qualified to take the reigns of the business but she was short of confidence. She always felt she wasn't the right person to take care of such a huge business empire. She was contended being a housewife and believed her husband was doing a great job as he had acquired quite a few new clients and the business was booming.
Her husband on the other hand was a cunning man who knew the old man was shrewd and that's why he had made him just a caretaker of the business and left complete control with his daughter. Akash found a way though. He was overly nice to Shalini and pretended to be a good, caring husband. Shalini didn't even have a whiff of the things that her husband was doing behind her back. Akash initially got genuinely good clients and used to ask Shalini to read the contract before signing the papers. Since this became a routine, Shalini started to sign papers without reading them. Akash sold quite a few assets and couple of bungalows by getting Shalini to sign the sale papers without her knowledge. Shalini assumed they were business contacts as usual and thus she started loosing her dad's assets gradually. Akash was planning to get rid of Shalini too, but he was waiting for the right time as things would look suspicious if there were two deaths in the family in such a short time.
Akash was living a lifestyle that he had dreamed of and thought there's nobody who could touch him. Soon this business empire would be his, but he was wrong.
In walked Sachin Patil, a 45 year old government servant who knew Shalini's father really well. Mr. Patil worked in Central audit agency and while checking the accounts for a hospitality firm, he noticed two bungalows being bought by the firm. He became a bit suspicious as he knew these properties belonged to Mr. Mehra (Shalini's father). He knew Shalini's company was doing really well so he couldn't understand why would someone sell assets when there's no need to do so. He decided to check with Shalini. Mr. Patil was a womaniser of sorts. He liked young ladies and had his eyes on Shalini, but before he could try placing his hands on her, he got the news that she was getting married. Later, he got busy with a government audit but Shalini was still very much alive in his memory.
